Dear Parents and Guardians of CES Students, Out of an abundance of caution and at the request of local law enforcement, Confidence Elementary was placed in secure status at approximately 1:55 p.m. today due to an incident happening outside of the building and miles down the road. The secure status lasted about 15 minutes. All school operations have now returned to normal. What is the Secure Action? The Secure Action is called when there is a threat or hazard outside of the school building. Secure uses the security of the physical facility to act as protection. During Secure, all students and staff are brought into the secure building and all doors are locked.

Hello! We have 19 students in kindergarten through fifth grade who have not submitted the student information forms from the link or QR code sent from school. Please take care of this today if you can. If you need assistance, please call the school. Pre-K families, we will also be asking you to complete this. The link is on www.putnamschools.com site. It says PCS Student Information Packet. You can use the QR code or the link. Make sure you hit submit at the end. Thanks, and have a good evening!

Open House is this evening at Confidence Elementary School! Our doors will open at 5:30. Drop by between 5:30-7:30 to meet the teachers, buy a yearbook (they just came in- $22 cash in correct change or check to CES), talk with bus drivers, sign up to be a volunteer, and get a snow cone as you leave! We cannot wait to see you all!

Open House is on August 20, between 5:30 and 7:30. Drop in anytime in that window to meet the teachers and staff and tour the school. Bus drivers will be set up in our cafeteria for any questions about times or routes that you may have. Volunteer coordinators will also be in the cafeteria with sign-up sheets for volunteer opportunities this year, including interest in being a homeroom parent. We will have school supplies in the library that are for any student who may need them. We will have some backpacks, binders, and all of the usual items. If you already have your school supplies, you can bring them and drop them off (not mandatory). If you have any student medications to be administered at school, you can take them to Mrs. Angie in the office if you have the doctor required forms ready (HS-18). We will have snow cones for all as you leave Open House! The first day for students in K-5 is August 22. Our doors will open at 7:00 am and the tardy bell will ring at 7:30 this year. Pre-K's first day of school is on Sept. 3. If you have questions, you can email me at kbarker@k12.wv.us. I hope to see everyone on Tuesday if you can make it because it makes for a much smoother transition for students to start comfortably if they have attended Open House. Thanks and have a great day!

Good afternoon! This is just a reminder that our fifth graders need to arrive at school at the cafeteria side circle at 5:30 in the morning for our zoo trip. Students can enter the building and have a seat at tables for an attendance check and restroom break before we depart at 6:00 promptly. School is on a usual schedule tomorrow for everyone else. Tuesday is our last day of the year, and it is a 3 hour early dismissal. Students will depart at 11:25. Report cards will be at school tomorrow arou d 9:30 a.m. We do not mail report cards, so if you don't come to school, you will need to pick them up from the Board of Education in Winfield after June 12th. It is best to come to school and collect all personal items. Thank you for a wonderful school year! We hope that everyone has a fantastic and safe summer break!

Our Talent Show is tomorrow! Doors open to guests at 8:00 and we will begin at 8:15. All students will be showcasing something they have learned in music class, and we have some individual and group acts as well. We asked our 3rd-5th grade students to go ahead and bring swimwear and a towel in a bag tomorrow in case it does not rain and we are able to do their state testing water slide reward tomorrow afternoon. If it rains, we will move that to Tuesday afternoon after Field Day. Unless we hear otherwise from parents, we will have them leave the swimwear at school. Friday will also be an exciting day because all of our K-5th graders have earned time in a video game truck for i-Ready lesson completion in the morning and most of the students also earned a glow dance party with a snow cone on Friday afternoon for reaching their AR end of year points! Our kids are amazing! Parents, please join us at the Volunteer Luncheon on Friday. You've helped us at school all year, and this is a small way for our staff to say thank you! Have a good evening!

Our 3rd-5th graders worked hard on their tests today! We will continue with math tomorrow. We had some AC issues in parts of the school building today. We are expecting similar issues tomorrow, as parts are on order. Please wear shorts or cooler clothes if you can in grades 3-5. The forecast is showing that 80 degree temperatures are expected. Thank you!

Good Evening! Tomorrow, our third, fourth, and fifth graders begin state testing. Please be sure that your children arrive on time and that there are no early sign-outs this week. We will provide testing snacks. Students need to bring their own drink/water bottle. In other news, our fifth graders have Columbus Zoo field trip money due on Friday. Tuesday is the last call for Fun Day volunteer sheets and for Talent Show sign up sheets. Thanks so much to our PTO and other families for recognizing our staff for Staff Appreciation Week this coming week. Have a good evening!

We are excited about the field trip tomorrow for K-5! We should make it to Eleanor Park by 11:30 if you're coming there. Students can be signed out from the park by parents if you wish, but you can only sign out your own child from off-school sites (one mom or grandma can't sign out friends too, for example). The teachers will have sign out sheets. We will return to school in time for regular school dismissal procedures. Send your child with water and a snack because lunch at the park isn't until 12:30. Wear your Confidence school t-shirt if you have it. Thanks!

The solar eclipse is set to begin around 1:50 in our area tomorrow, Monday, April 8. Our students in grades 1-5 are doing a planned viewing event on our playground area with their teachers and staff members. Our kindergarten class will stay inside and view it online. All of our students have eclipse glasses at school. We will wear them once outside. If you wish to opt your child out of this event, please let me or your child's teacher know, and we will keep your child inside during the eclipse. At dismissal, we will instruct students to look down as they walk to cars and buses and to put on their glasses once in their vehicles. We are excited to enjoy this event tomorrow. Everyone is also encouraged to wear hats to school tomorrow. Thanks, and have a wonderful Sunday!
